Mitigate the impact your land clearing works has on native fauna while ensuring compliance of local, state and national environmental conditions in a cost-effective and efficient way that doesn’t affect project delivery.
Reduce down time when wildlife is encountered on your worksite
Fauna Spotter/Catchers services provide protection to fauna during vegetation clearing operations. A Fauna spotter/catcher’s work typically involves the identification, capture and translocation of wildlife that may be directly impacted by any proposed development works.
It is a requirement under the Qld Nature Conservation Act 1992 and generally a condition of environmental approval that fauna spotter/catcher be present when vegetation clearing is undertaken as part of planned works.

Where do we offer these services?
4 Elements Consulting is based in far North Queensland and as a result, our company focuses strongly on areas within the Wet-tropics and Cape York Peninsula. We are, however, experienced in the capture of wildlife across all of the state and can provide these services wherever it is required.
The Process
Prior to planned vegetation clearing, a licensed fauna/spotter catcher will attend the site and conduct a pre-clearance assessment. This is done to locate and identify any areas of potential wildlife habitat, such as roosts, burrows, tree hollows and nests. These features are clearly marked with flagging tape so that they are clearly delineated to all site personnel. On the day of proposed clearing works, the fauna spotter/catcher will work closely with machine operators and arborists by clearly articulating the specific requirements for the particular job that achieve the required outcomes whilst maintaining a high level of safety for all personnel in attendance. The fauna spotter/catcher will work during clearing activities by maintaining a safe distance from works and observing and monitoring all areas of vegetation being cleared and prevent impacts to fauna within these areas. All fauna are recorded and re-located to the most appropriate habitat area available based on the ecology of the individual species. Data collected including release points (GPS coordinates) are provided in a format that satisfies the specific approval conditions of each project.
